Astir, the London residential developer, has revealed that the retail units at its landmark West Hampstead Central development have been fully-let – and the scheme’s flexible office space Apex has been launched.

Amazon Fresh has moved into a suite of purpose-built commercial units on the ground floor of West Hampstead Central, a development of 94 high-spec one- and two-bedroom apartments in the heart of West Hampstead village, on West End Lane, adjacent to the Underground, Thameslink and Overground stations.

The scheme, Astir’s first in a pipeline of developments, has brought forward two buildings inspired by the area’s elegant mansion blocks that mirror the historic local vernacular.

Amazon Fresh has utilised a 3,522 sq ft unit for one of its Fresh convenience store outlets, providing the best groceries for local residents.

Gerald Wellesley, Amazon Fresh Real Estate, said: “We’re really excited to have opened our latest Amazon Fresh store in this great new location in West Hampstead, before the holidays. Customers visiting our new store will find hot and cold drinks, fresh bread and pastries from the bakery, meal deals, hot food, kitchen cupboard essentials, a wide range of alcoholic drinks, and more. We look forward to welcoming customers to our store.”

Meanwhile, high-profile burger chain Five Guys has also taken space at West Hampstead Central, alongside Italian Gelato retailer Amorino and coffee shop Buzz.

Nic Simpkin at Astir said: “Astir’s vision of ‘Making Living Better’ underpins the delivery of high-quality homes in exceptional places across London.

“The addition of four high-profile brands to West Hampstead Central only amplifies this vision and we’re delighted to have Amazon, Five Guys, Amorino and Buzz on board. We’re sure they’ll be incredibly popular with residents – as well as those a little further afield in West Hampstead.”

Meanwhile, Astir has also launched its Apex co-working space at West Hampstead Central. Apex offers nine dedicated offices (of which four are still available), 40 hot desk seats, five phone/Zoom booths, a cosy lounge area and a podcast room. This is the first of two phases. There are an additional 58 desks across 11 offices in phase 2 launching in February.

Matt Finch at Astir said: “We’re excited to launch Apex at West Hampstead Central, it is a fantastic location. We are the only coworking space in the neighbourhood. Apex is where convenience meets community, with great professional workspace resources with the comfort of a neighbourhood setting.”

“Apex will add another incredibly important facet to West Hampstead Central. It’s the only co-working space in the area and is providing local businesses looking for more flexible office space with fantastic facilities. We look forward to welcoming more new members in the new year.”

West Hampstead Central will feature panoramic landscaped rooftop gardens benefitting from easy access to the Apex co-working space and retail offering forming part of the overall development. West Hampstead Central is being developed by Astir in partnership with Gamuda, a global property and infrastructure company based in Malaysia.
